Obituary for Jimmie Hayes

Jimmie Lee Hayes, 83, of Berea, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 of complications following a heart attack. He was a Big Hill native born August 28, 1934, son of the late Willie Hayes and Pearl Himes Hayes, retired school bus driver for the Kentucky State School System in Jackson and Madison Counties, and member of the Holiness Faith.

Jimmie had been a resident of Jackson and Madison counties most of his life, was a people person and always had a smile on his face. He had been a trucker and driving a truck could be called his hobby. While serving as a bus driver, he was known to take very good care of the students on his bus and was known for his love and protection of them.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jim Hayes, Kenny Hayes (Vonda Hasty Anderkin); 2 siblings, Oscar Hayes (Phyllis), Martha Puckett; 3 grandchildren, Jimmie Darrell, Joshua Dale, Jerry; 3 great grandchildren, Addison, Landon, Kinsley; and his faithful dog, Buddy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Hayes, Luther Hayes; and 1 step-son, Darrell Wayne Marshall.

Graveside Service 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Pilot Knob Cemetery. Reppert Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
