Obituary for Bobby Wayne Akers

Bobby Wayne Akers, 56, of Berea, died suddenly Sunday, November 26, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington of an apparent heart attack. He was a Lancaster, KY native (Garrard County) born December 19, 1960, son of the late Claude B. and Viewie Christine Jordan Akers, a farmer, and a resident of the Berea area most of his life. Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather and attended New Hope Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife Katherine Willis Akers; four children, Christopher Akers, Tonia Durham, Shannon Durham, Bobbie Lynn Akers (Terry Smith); three step-children, Keith Ballard (Ashley), Renae Fowler (John Lewis), Nikki Frymer; six siblings, Luther Akers (Alma), Brenda Akers, Georgia Farris (Lonard), Sam Akers, Kimberly Thomas and Jeff Akers (Jamie); nine grandchildren; as well as, numerous relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sharon Durham Akers and 1 sister Rosemary Akers.

Funeral Service 11:00 am, Thursday, November 30, 2017 at New Hope Holiness Church with Bro. Luther Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Akers Cemetery in Garrard County. Visitation Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 at the Church after 6:00 pm.
